The Scott Law Firm Obtains Plea Deal for Client Facing 72 Charges

Attorney Paul “Woody” Scott and Attorney James Spokes reached a plea agreement to have 68 out of 72 charges of various sex crimes dropped on behalf of our client, who ultimately pleaded guilty to second-degree rape, production of child pornography, and conspiracy of mingling harmful substances.

On February 18, 2022, the client was sentenced to 41 years in prison. As part of the deal, she agreed to testify against her husband, a former sheriff’s deputy who is facing 150 criminal charges – most of them are sex crimes.

Attorney Scott said to the New York Post:

“He is the real monster. That’s what she wants to make clear. It’s not about shifting blame, she took responsibility today. I mean, that’s what she did, but, she looks forward [to] going after the real monster.”

In 2019, the couple was arrested for multiple offenses, including allegedly sexually abusing a child together. The client filed for divorce from her husband after their arrests and claimed that he had manipulated her into committing the crimes.

The client is a former teacher, who resigned from her job following her arrest, while her husband was fired from his deputy position. The husband is also subject to a lawsuit filed by the Livingston Parish School System that claims the client filmed him supplying semen for the cupcakes that she gave to her students.

The client admitted to the act as part of the plea bargain. Attorney Scott said she looks forward to testifying against her husband, whose trial is expected to start in May.
